Pattern Notes
Swope is an effortless, methodical knit, with an attractive wrong side. An easy to remember colorwork pattern makes this a quick knit for a circular cowl, and an approachable project for a beginning colorwork knitter. Trapping floats is a necessary technique to work the diamond portion of the cowl.

Yarn
One skein of Berroco’s Ultra Alpaca in Salt + Pepper, or 215 yards of Main Color yarn in a darker shade.
--and--
One Skein of Berroco’s Ultra Alpaca in Moonshade, or 215 yards of Contrast Color yarn in a lighter shade.

Note on yarn substitution: If working in a non-alpaca yarn, or a yarn without much drape, knitters might need to go up a needle size to match the sample’s blocked gauge.

Gauge
16 stitches + 20 rows = 4” of blocked stockinette in colorwork

Needles
32” US 9 circular needle, or size to obtain gauge.
