I had two ideas on my mind when working this cardigan:

1. I wanted to create something really romantic, with lots of lace, fluid, soft and gorgeous.
2. I wanted to use the primary tailoring used for the folkloristic shirts for the national costumes, the Bunad, of Norway.

The Sylvestris cardigan is a fusion of my ideas - the result is romance mixed with a loose and boxy fit - versatile and wonderful to wear!
The knitting is traditonal with separate pieces for fronts, sleeves and back, worked bottom-up and back and forth. The scalloped lace-edgings of the fronts are integrated in the knitting, and the sleeves’ lace-pattern is continued to make lace-panel for shoulders.
You might set in buttons along the front - using the yo’s from the lace-pattern as natural buttonholes. And you might work the back’s sidepanel without the ribbing (I give an alternative cast on for this) I cannot promise you that there is no seaming, but there are only straight seams and I give you a step-by-step instructions for the finishing.
The knitting is easy, and the lace-pattern is repetetive and fast to memorize. I give you written instructions for the cardigan and a chart for the pattern.
About the wool: If you haven’t tried using The Manos silk blend Fino Before I can highly recommend it! It’s divine; soft and a tiny bit uneven which gives a very nice surface. Here and there are small flecks of surplus wool, which adds to the interest.
