Sylvie Ballet Wrap
When our little one started ballet classes, I wanted to design a knitted wrap that had no seams, to make it as comfortable as possible to be worn for dancing.
The Sylvie wrap cardigan is worked from the bottom up, with the body in one piece, with the sleeves initially worked separately. Sleeves are worked in the round, then joined at the armhole, then the whole piece is completed as one, with raglan decreases. Front edge and neckband trims are made using a grafted i-cord, with i-cord ties. The ties can be made in traditional wrap-around style, with a side opening to pass the tie through, or with short side ties, more suitable if making the smaller sizes or if making for casual wear.
The wrap can be made in 6 sizes. The cardigan is designed to be close-fitting and sitting in at the high waist for dance, so please size up if making this for a looser fit for casual wear.
This pattern is of intermediate difficulty - you will be working a grafted i-cord for the front trims, and a vertical buttonhole for the tie opening.
