Sylvie’s Summer Top is worked from the top down. First the front and back are worked separately, using raglan increases. They are then assembled on a circular needle, stitches are cast on under the arm and the body is worked in the round. The top is finished by working an applied i-cord around the cast-on edges and armholes and by adding i-cord straps, adjustable to the child’s size. A variation is given to make the straps longer in order to form a tie. There are quite a few ends to weave in. I recommend weaving those in as you go along to limit the amount of work at the end.
