This is a pattern for a scarf that is made up of a variation of the three brioche stitches. The Brioche Rib which forms the turtleneck section, and the Syncopated Brioche, which forms the panels. However, the Syncopated Brioche is really the combination of two different brioche stitch stitches: The knit brioche rib and the purled (or Turkish) brioche stitch. Both stitches tend to show of variegated yarn at their best, and can often be worked on needles one to two sizes larger than the yarn normally calls for, giving the stitch both a dimensionality not often found in knitting stitches, as well as a fluffiness. The fluffiness is both attractive, and soft to wear, which is a wonderful “marriage” in a knitting stitch.

This is a great learning Brioche Stitch pattern, if the stitch is new to you.

Skill Level: Intermediate (assuming a good working knowledge of knitting, slipped stitches, and yo’s).
