Sizing
• This cowl can be worked in any size: as a smaller neck warmer, or as a longer cowl that can be draped around the neck and down the chest, or around the shoulders for warmth.
• Neck warmer size: 21–22” circumference x 7.5–8” (unblocked)
• Shoulder warmer size: To be determined by your own shoulder measurements as outlined later
• Your cast on will be determined by the size you choose and your own individual gauge. Follow the instructions for creating a small swatch.

Yarn
• The cowl is worked in the round as a marled pattern, holding two strands of yarn together. (You can also work it with a single strand of any weight if you prefer.)
• Choose two colorways that will work together and show off the stitch pattern for best results.
• Yarns can be of the same or differing weights.
• If using two yarns, you’ll need approximately ½ skein (50g ea) for each color. If using bulky or 1 heavier weight alone, you’ll use most of a skein. For a shoulder warmer size, yarn requirements will be 2–2.5 times more than for the smaller size, depending upon your own measurements.

Needles
• Use a circular needle with a cable that is an appropriate length for the size you choose. Suggested needle sizes:
Fingering + fingering or fingering + suri/mohair: US 5 or 6
DK (held singly): US 7 or 8
Sport + sport: US 8 or 9
DK + DK: US 9 or 10
Bulky (held singly): US 10.5 or 11
• I don’t change needle sizes for my ribbing, as I don’t like the ribbing to pull in, but you can if you prefer that look.

Misc.
• The 2-row, 4-stitch repeat is simple to work, easy to remember, and is separated by classic stockinette rows.
