Syringa vulgaris socks
Why syringa vulgaris? It’s my mum’s botanical influence… it means lilac in Latin. Read more in the about section why lilac is so memorable for me…

ABOUT
Let me take you on a journey… We are going to travel back to my childhood, when my grandma was still around.
I have spend a lot of time with her, sitting on the windowsill watching the world go by. After the winter finished
and the snow melted away, the spring flowers would come up and brighten the days. I have a rather vague picture
of them now… it’s a long time ago, but I still remember the smell. Right outside of the window where grandma sat, there was a huge shrub of lilac, the scent was especially strong in the evenings. I wish I could transfer it to a pattern…
Instead I can only show you the colours, the beautiful shades of purple with a touch of pink. The twisted stitches running up the sock remind me of the little lilac buds, which transform into the fragrant flowers.
It’s a simple toe up sock pattern with added interest of mock cables, no cable needle necessary. Use contrasting or coordinating colour for toes, heels and cuffs to make it a more exciting knit.
