The Tadhg Socks are the first piece in a collection of designs inspired by a story and film that hold a very special place in my heart, The Secret of Ron Mor Skerry, or The Secret of Roan Innish. Its a beautiful folktale set on the Irish coast in the early 1940s, which tells the tale of the Selkie lore as modern myth.

This pattern is based off the character Tadhg Coneely, a fisherman who’s said to be trapped between earth and water. The design features elements that suggest both sea and shore.
With gentle waves running down the sides of the foot worked in simple cables, and shore birds circling the cuff worked in colorwork, finally they are tied together with blue and earthen brown tones.

Each piece of the design is engaging with a little something going on at every step.

They are worked up in fingering weight yarn on size US 2/2.75 mm needles.

The design features: A contrast band at the cuff, a circlet of eyelets, a band of colorwork, framing cables, and a garter edged heel flap.
