Tähesära is an homage to my time quilting. I learned to sew and quilt before picking up knitting needles. Some of my favorite quilting block patterns are the bold star blocks made of different pieces. The eight point star pattern created using Fluff in the central Roosimine inlay panel is inspired by some of my favorite quilting patterns blended with Estonian woven belt patterns for reversibility. This shawl is the first completely reversible Roosimine Estonian inlay shawl pattern I have created. You’ll have gorgeous stars on both sides of this shawl that is easy to knit thanks to a fabulous fringe steek. The name Tähesära means starlight in Estonian.

PATTERN NOTES
This steeked triangular shawl features a beautiful central panel of reversible roosimine Estonian inlay. On either side of the roosimine panel is sections of reversible textured seed stitch.

The top edge of the shawl is finished with an i-cord bind off.

The shawl is knit in the round from the tip up, increasing stitches on each side of the shawl every round to reach the wingspan length. Knitting in the round creates a cone shape that is then steeked to create the flat triangular shape.

Once the shawl is steeked or cut along the column of purl sts in the steek st section, the remaining sts of the steek section are unraveled and then knotted to create a knotted fringe edge.
