Tähkä is a fashionable cropped sweater which is easily layered with your favourite outfits. It is classical and simple yet has a small romantic botanic motif decorating the yoke. Tähkä is a quick knit with DK yarn and the knitting is made easy. By turning the work you will be using only knit stitches to create the motif and the decorations of collar, hem and cuffs. No purling! Tähkä means a spike in Finnish.

Tähkä is knitted top down starting from collar. The increases are grouped along only a few rounds so most of the yoke is comfortable mindless knitting. Tähkä (spike) motif is created by tying double yarnovers together. After the yoke, the sleeves and body are divided. Short sleeves have some decreases for a better fit. The cuffs are finished in the same manner the collar is started. The body is straight and is finished like the collar. The rustic woollen spun ecological finnsheep wool from a local farm gives the fabric a special character. Anyway, if you want to choose another yarn for your project, also worsted spun yarns will end up in a good result.

Yarn: Tolvila Wool 2-ply Finnsheep ecological wool, non-superwash, (230m=100g), 3( 3 ,3, 4, 4, 4, 5) skeins of colourway Kuura (natural white), total of 550( 630, 700, 800, 890, 1000, 1110) yards / 500(570, 640, 730, 810, 910, 1020) m.

Alternative yarns:
Pom Pom Suoma DK 100% finnsheep wool (240m = 100g).
Jalovilla Oinas 85 % finnish villa, 15% nylon (255m = 100g).
Tukuwool Hakamaa DK, 100% Kainuunharmas-rygja (230= 100g).
You can use any yarn, but this will affect your gauge and the amount of yarn needed.

Needles: US #6/4,0, circulars of 40 and 80 cm and US #2,5/3,0 circulars of 40 and 80 cm and dpns.
Notions: Tapestry needle, stitch markers.

Gauge: 18 sts ja 28 rows = 4 inches / 10 cm in stockinette with #6/4,0 needles, blocked. Please make a swatch and select a suitable needle size to get the right gauge.

Tähkä on muodikas lyhyt paita, joka sopii kerrospukeutumiseen. Se on yksinkertaisen klassinen, ja kaarroketta koristaa pieni romanttinen yksityiskohta. Tähkä on nopea ja helppo neulottava DK-vahvuisesta langasta. Työtä kääntelemällä luodaan sekä kaarrokkeen kuvio että kaula-aukon helman ja hihansuiden viimeistelyt. Ei nurjia silmukoita!

Tähkä neulotaan ylhäältä alaspäin aloittaen kaula-aukosta. Lisäykset on ryhmitelty muutamalle kerrokselle, joten suurin osa kaarrokkeesta on yksinkertaista rentouttavaa neulomista. Tähkä-kuvio tehdään kaksinkertaisilla langankierroilla, jotka sidotaan seuraavalla kerroksella pieniksi kimpuiksi. Kaarrokkeen silmukat jaetaan sitten hihoja ja vartalo-osaa varten. Lyhyitä hihoja kavennetaan hieman ennen hihansuita, jotta ne istuvat paremmin. Vartalo on suora ja helman viimeistely samanlainen kuin kaula-aukossa.

Pörheä Tolvilan tilan luomuvillalanka tekee neuleesta rustiikkisen. Lanka on jämäkkää neuloa ja pehmenee suloisen pehmeäksi kastelun ja pingotuksen aikana. Malliin sopivat myös tiukkakierteisemmät, sileät langat.

Voit käyttää mitä lankaa haluat, mutta langan vahvuus vaikuttaa neuleen tiheyteen ja tarvittavaan lankamäärään.

Puikot: 3 ja 4 mm pyöröpuikot 40 ja 80 cm kaapeleilla ja sa-mankokoiset sukkapuikot.
Tarvikkeet: Neula, silmukkamerkkejä, silmukanpidikkeitä tai jämälankaa.

Tiheys: 18 s ja 28 krs = 10 cm sileää neuletta 4,0 mm puikoilla, kasteltuna ja pingotettuna. Neulo mallitilkku ja valitse sitten työhön puikot, joilla saat oikean tiheyden.
