Inspired by cold and frosty winters, these mittens are guaranteed to keep you warm and cozy! They are crafted with a simple construction method and textured stitch throughout, using a gauge swatch to create a mitten that fits perfectly and is worked up quickly. This novice level pattern is great for crocheters who are looking for an easy introduction into creating fitted accessories/garments using a gauge swatch, and who have some experience with working in the round, as well as stitch patterns. While it is recommended to work with a weight 5 or 6 yarn, the technique used can be applied to any weight yarn and hook! The pattern is written tutorial style, so it can be used to create any size!

The Taiga Mittens are constructed in one piece, starting at the top of the fingers and working downward in the round to complete the body, using a gauge swatch to determine the length and width. The thumb hole is then created, and the body is shaped to fit the contour of the hand before finishing off with the cuffs and fastening off. The yarn is then reattached to the thumb hole, and the thumb is finished off.

A weight 5 or 6 yarn is recommended for this project, however, any yarn can be used! This will produce a dense, extra warm mitten!
