Taival hat
Taival is the Finnish word for a journey or a passage from one place to another. For me knitting is more about the journey than about the finished project, and enjoying the moments I spend crafting. This hat is an enjoyable and relaxing knitting project for more experienced knitters, but also suitable for beginners who want to expand their skills and venture beyond the very basics.
The Taival hat is started with an optional Tubular Cast On which is explained in detail in the instructions. The Tubular Cast On provides a beautiful and stretchy edge that looks like the stitches roll over the edge to the other side of the brim. The cable pattern is easy to memorize and fully charted.
The Taival hat uses the same stitch patterns and techniques as my popular Taival socks. The hat and the socks would make a lovely gift set for someone dear.
