Mumtaz Mahal, the 16th century Mughal Empress who inspired the Taj Mahal, loved earrings. If you know what to look for, you can find motifs of stylized earrings all over the Taj, hiding in carvings and inlays.

These earring motifs are the design inspiration for these thick and cozy socks. Using a traditional toe-up Turkish sock construction and afterthought heel, these stranded socks are certain to warm even the chilliest of feet.

Throughout the pattern, always carry non-working yarn behind working yarn, securing ever 3-4 sts to prevent a long float.

These socks are intended to be worn without shoes. They feature a very pointy toe and an angular heel shaping which extends the all-over colorwork into the heel area.
