Tale as Old as Time celebrates the classic fairy tale, Beauty and the Beast. The yarn was created in collaboration with Must Stash Yarn in a special cowl-length self-striping sequence.

The design is simple as can be: a stockinette tube, which takes advantage of one of the simplest and most enjoyable ways to knit with self-striping yarn: stockinette stitch in the round, allowing you to enjoy the magic of the color changes that happen automatically and encouraging you to knit just one more stripe.

While a stockinette tube cowl can easily be knit without a pattern, I’ve devised several simple strategies to make the finishing work as easy as the knitting.

Yarn: Designed for Must Stash Yarn’s special edition cowl set: 2 skeins of self-striping yarn; color 1 is La Belle and color 2 is La Bête. 500 yards each.

Skills needed: Perfect for adventurous beginners as well as any knitter who loves stockinette stitch in the round.

To knit Tale as Old as Time, you will need to be able to:

• Cast on with a provisional cast-on

• Knit

• Follow instructions for a three-needle decrease

• Graft stitches with kitchener stitch
