Inspired by the wonderful paintings, writings and spirit of Beatrix Potter, this shawl is a mix of delicate classic English stitches, vintage style, and a touch of whimsy. Yarn and notions:

• 4 x 50g skeins of fingering weight yarn, at least 225 yards each (206 metres each) referred to in the pattern simply as colours 1 through 4.

• Sample knit in Tippy Tree Yarns’ Tippy Sock base, using the Beatrix Potter shawl kit created for the MKAL in June 2023.

• The project may also be knit using 2 full skeins of complimentary colours (using one colour for colour 1 and 3 instructions, and the other for the colour 2 and 4 instructions). It could also be knit in one colour, using 2 skeins.

• Total yardage: 900 yards

• 2 stitch markers, plus a progress marker to identify the front of your work

• scissors and tapestry needle for weaving in ends

Needles: 3.75mm (US size 5) circular needles (80cm or 32” cable suggested)

Gauge (blocked): 20 stitches = 4 inches in stockinette and garter (24 sts unblocked)
