Tamto
This pattern is published in Mary Jane Mucklestone’s book Fair Isle Weekend. The book is available in 2 versions: in English and in Finnish.
The Tamto mitts are knit in the rnd from the ribbed cuff, through the colorwork hand, ending with individual ribbed fingers. An afterthought thumb enables you to keep your Fair Isle knitting groove on, with little interruption. With wearing, the mitts mold to your hands, so you won’t notice the absence of a gusset.
Tamto is an Old Shetland word for heyday.
