Inspiration:
This cropped tank top was inspired by the style icon Tan France - I find his humility, kindness, and humorous personality a breath of fresh air on TV. The top exemplifies everything I admire about Tan: it’s fun, playful, adventurous, and easy-going.

Construction:
This is a cropped tank top that is worked sideways. The top begins at the right underarm and is knit in one piece to the left underarm in 6-row garter stitch stripes. Stitches are picked up around the neckband, armholes, and hem to work ribbed trims.

Sizes:
1 (2, 3, 4, 5)(6, 7, 8, 9), sample shown is Size 2 modeled with 5”/13cm of positive ease in the chest on a person who is 5’2”/157.5cm tall

Finished measurements:
35 (39, 43, 47, 51)(55, 59, 63, 67)“/89 (99, 109, 119.5, 129.5)(139.5, 150, 160, 170)cm around the chest, with a recommended positive ease of 2-5”/5-13cm

Yarn:
Knit Picks Lindy Chain, fingering weight, 70% Linen and 30% Pima Cotton, 180 yards per 50g ball, sample knit in Turmeric as C1, Harbor as C2, and Black as C3

I designed this top with a 70% linen and 30% cotton blend fingering-weight yarn that I knitted at a relatively loose gauge. This resulted in a fabric that has a lot of drape. If you plan to substitute yarn, choose yarn of a similar weight and with mostly linen or silk content for a similar fit and look.
