About
Tao Sweater is a drop shoulder all over textured sweater design which is knitted seamlessly from the top down.

The sweater is knitted in the round using offset 1x1 rib interspersed with purl rows to create a rich texture that will keep you wanting to knit just one more repeat..!

To knit the sweater, firstly stitches are cast on for the back and increases are made on every row to shape the back yoke. The shoulders are picked up and knit and the neckline and underarms shaped with increase. The work is then joined in the round. The body is knit in the round before finishing with a 1x1 rib split hem which is slightly longer at the back than at the front.

The sleeves are picked up and knit in the round, with the sleeve cap shaped with German Short Rows to improve the fit and decreases worked at regular intervals to create a slightly tapered shaping. The cuffs are finished with 1x1 ribbing.

Stitches are then picked up for the neckband and a 1x1 rib double folded collar is worked using a Double Knitting technique to create a smooth fold.

The difficulty of this pattern is rated as ‘intermediate’. You will need to be familiar with the following techniques:

• knitting in the round
• increasing / decreasing stitches in pattern
• German Short Rows in pattern
• picking up stitches
• reading your knitting and maintaining stitch pattern
