This beginner-friendly poncho is knit as a big rectangle, folded in half, and then seamed at the shoulder using three-needle bind off. Knit on a circular needle, this is made up of only knit stitches, going around and around. At the beginning and end of each round, you simply cut the yarns to make fringe. This edge is reinforced later using a single crochet.

Since the colorwork is mostly stripes with a few very easy pattern rows, and therefore suitable for all abilities.

The pattern uses four colors of DK weight yarn (though a light worsted would also work.) The sample uses Farmers Daughter Fibers Pishkun.

CC1--Sapphire Empress (green) 1 skein (150 yards)

Sample was knit using a US sz 6/4mm. 32-inch circular needle.

The poncho is one size: 57 inches long (before folding) by 24.5 inches high. You may adjust the neck opening and shoulder seam for a custom fit.
