Tapestry Crochet Wall Hanging - Hope
These wall hangings are created with a unique combination of Thread Painting and Tapestry Crochet to produce the effect of a silhouette against a sunset.
Thread Painting is a way of changing colours to produce a shaded effect.
Tapestry Crochet is similar to regular crochet, except that two or more strands are worked at the same time to create a colourful fabric.
The large wall hanging measures about 48 x 72 cm (19 x 28 in) and is made with size 5 thread and a 2.50mm hook.
The small wall hanging measures about 36 x 48 cm (14 x 19 in) and is made with size 8 thread and a 1.50mm hook
Materials: DMC Petra No. 5 or No. 8 in colours: Black, White, Lemon, Gold, Orange, and Red.
One ball of each colour is enough to make one wall hanging, however, as you need 3 strands of each colour, you will have to wind off a separate ball to use and use the main ball from both ends. If you plan on making the full set, it is easier to buy 3 balls of each to start with.
Equipment: 1.50mm hook for No.8, 2.50mm hook for No. 5, Needle for sewing in ends, 2 rods for each hanging.
