tapestry crochet washcloths - so hip!
This pattern is for four different tapestry crochet washcloth charts, a harlequin diamond washcloth, a polka dot washcloth, a cloud washcloth pattern and a nine of hearts washcloth pattern.
The patterns are in chart form, and can be made in any weight cotton using the appropriate sized hook. The gauge is not critical. The finished washcloths are all slightly different sizes due to the different number of stitches in each pattern repeat. You can customise the size of your washcloth quite easily by increasing the number of pattern repeats.
While I have called these washcloth patterns, they are quite versatile and you could use the charts for bigger projects like blankets and tea towels, by increasing the starting chains and number of pattern repeats.
You can really have some fun with tapestry crochet!
The harlequin washcloths use up small amounts of different coloured yarn, they are a good way to use up leftovers from other projects. Slightly larger amounts of background colour are needed for the cloud, hearts and polka dot patterns.
While some knowledge of the tapestry crochet technique would make things a little easier for you, it is not a hard technique to master and I have included a basic tutorial on changing colours with the pattern.
More information on tapestry crochet can be found on my blog
Little Woollie, and there are lots of videos showing you how to do it on You Tube.
