Meaning “crosshatching” in Scottish Gaelic, Tar-Sgàil is a simple but fun sock pattern designed to show off any yarn to its best! The socks feature textured ribbed columns running up the side of the sock, heel and leg, giving beautiful texture while still being a simple and quick knit. Knit from the toe up with a gusset and heel flap the socks have flexible length fitting in both the foot and the leg. Tar-Sgàil Socks is a great mix of relaxing knit and engaging pattern – perfect for travel knitting or chilling with a film!

The pattern is fully written with charts for the lace and twisted rib and has been tech-edited and test knitted. There’s a screenshot of the knitting pattern, and a list of the stitches used at the bottom of the photos. You will also need to know how to do a double sided cast-on like Judy’s Magic Cast-On and a stretchy bind-off like Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind-Off.
