In my experience, I find that you can never have too many bags, especially ones that are “Bigger on the Inside”! And why limit your Doctor Who fandom to a T-shirt? So I made the TARDIS Tote, a nice and sturdy crocheted bag to carry around your projects, books, or maybe to do a bit of incognito time travel!

As an added bonus, you can organize your hooks, bits and bobs and sonic screwdrivers with the smaller TARDIS clutch, instructions for which are also included in this pattern. Keep both for yourself, or share one with your companion!

About the pattern:
The TARDIS Tote is an intermediate level pattern, made with the Tapestry Crochet technique to enhance its sturdiness and hide potential floats. It’s worked in pieces, with textured edges for a more box-like look. The pattern also includes instructions to make a matching notions clutch, which is worked in one piece, folded and the edges crocheted together. Both pieces can be slightly felted to make them even more durable.

Materials:
Tote: 600 yards of worsted weight yarn in blue, 230 yards of worsted weight yarn in white, and 120 yards of worsted weight yarn in black.

Clutch: 90 yards of worsted weight yarn in blue (Color A), 85 yards of worsted weight yarn in white (Color B), and 6 yards of worsted weight yarn in black (Color C)

The samples were made using:
Brown Sheep Nature Spun (100g / 245 yds) – 3 balls in color ‘N36W China Blue’ (Color A), 2 balls in color ‘740W Snow’ (Color B), and 1 ball in color ‘601W Pepper’ (Color C)

Size 4mm / US G (or size to obtain gauge) crochet hook
Darning needle
Snap button(s) (optional)

Gauge: 18 sts / rows =10cm / 4” in tapestry crochet; fabric should feel slightly stiff.

Finished Measurements:
Tote: About 14.5” wide, 17.5” high (without strap), 3” deep
Clutch: About 7” wide and 7” high
