Taro the Tempestuous Tiger Amigurumi
Meet Taro, the tempestuous tiger. Yeah, he does have a slight temper, but really he is very lovable and hug-gable.
Here is a pattern to make your very own Amigurumi tiger. The pattern is worked bottom up and the stripes are attached later. The pattern includes easy to follow instructions and will teach you how to join legs as you go. A diagram with detailed steps are included to help you with this technique. A step-by-step photo tutorial is also included to show you how to attach the tiger’s stripes.
N.b - the lion pictured is not included in this pattern. It is available as a separate pattern in my Ravelry or Etsy store.
Gauge is not important for this pattern. I have listed some yarns that you can use above, but feel free to choose whatever yarn you like. If you use a heavier or lighter weight yarn, keep in mind that this will change the size of your finished product. With a 4.5mm hook and 8 ply yarn, the tiger measures approximately 28 cm (11 inches) height.
Yardage – Colours (with Dk/8 ply yarn)
Body, ears, tail – Main Colour – MC (orange) – approx. 80 gr (132m/142.5 yd)
Tail stripes & outer ears (dk/8 ply) – Contrast Colour – CC (black) – very small amount. Use scrap yarn.
Body Stripes (fingering/4 ply) – Contrast Colour – CC (black) – approximately 10 gr depending on how many stripes you work.
