Tasai
“Tasai” is the Japanese word for “Variety” or “Variegated”.
The Tasai Scarf is a crescent shaped scarf, worked sideways with short rows.
The pattern has both charts and line-by-line directions.
The sample in the first picture is composed by 9 sections knitted in two colors, but the Tasai scarf looks really nice also in one color, and can be shortened or elongated by working less or more triangles.
The depth of the scarf is not affected by the number of triangles.
The sample in the first picture has been knitted with 223 yd / 204 m of fingering weight 80% Merino / 20% Polyamide (470 yd / 430 m on 3.53 oz / 100 g) light green color, and 192.5 yd / 176 m of fingering weight 100% Merino (470 yd / 430 m on 3.53 oz / 100 g) speckled, needles size 3.5 mm - US size 4.
Finished measurements of the sample in the picture above: 8.27“ / 21 cm from neck to bottom point, 51.57” / 131 cm from tip to tip.
Gauge: 22 sts x 28 rows on 4” / 10 cm in “Interlude” pattern, very gently blocked.
