When I first saw the ball of Gradient yarn featured in this pattern, it screamed “sunrise”. Te atatū means “the dawn,” and I wanted to design a shawl that looked like the dawn of a new day. The contrast of the night sky fading away pairs with picot edging as the sun finally burst through.

The design suits gradient yarn, mini skein sets and solid/semi-solid yarn.

Construction
Te atatū is a crescent shaped shawl comprised of a striking, yet simple, lace mesh interspersed with garter sections of decreasing depth and finishing with a picot cast off.

Sample is knit in Gradient 4-ply sparkle “Aurora Australis” and Knitsch 100% merino sock “Chinook”
