For some inconceivable reason, knitters have asked me to provide instructions to modify the hat into a tea cosy … I have done this, and the tea-cosy modification instructions are now included with the pattern as a free extra (in a separate PDF file). Please note: these instructions are untested and are intended for assistance only!
Foula Wool is offering yarn packs containing all the shades in the correct quantities you’ll need to knit this hat! The pack costs £20 (GBP). These will be available from Monday October 13th. Please visit their website for details.

Yarn
Foula Wool (3ply / Double Knitting weight / Shetland wool) (See www.foulawool.co.uk), 1 x 25g ball of each of the following seven shades: Black (A), Moorit, (B) Fawn (C) , Mioget (D), Grey (E), Light Grey (F), White (G). Excluding swatch, the exact yardage used for sample was as follows: A 25 (yards); B 30; C 25; D 25; E 15; F 25; G 40 yards. Remember that you will need extra yarn for swatching.
Other materials
3.75mm circular needle (or size to get gauge) in the following length: 1 x 40cm/16in (for working hat body)
3.25mm circular needle in the following length: 1 x 40cm/16in (for working brim)
3.75mm dpns (or your preferred needles for working small diameters in the round) for finishing crown.
Tapestry needle for weaving in ends; stitch marker; length of waste yarn for provisional cast on.
