Your doll will be taking tea in style when you knit this elegant three-piece dress and lace collar.

The skirt is started with a provisional cast on, then worked flat sideways in order to produce vertical stripes. The flare of the skirt is enhanced with short rows worked along the hem edge. The back seam is grafted, then stitches are picked up along the top edge and worked in the round in a k1, p1 rib to form the casing for the elastic. The skirt is finished by picking up stitches along the hem edge, which are then worked in the round to form the ruffle. Instructions are included for making a simple bumroll to give the proper period silhouette to the skirt.

The bodice is also worked flat sideways in one piece, from right front edge to left front edge. The shoulder seams are sewn, then stitches are picked up around the armhole edge, after which the sleeves are worked in the round towards the elbow. For View A , a tape yarn ruffle is incorporated at the sleeve edge. For View B, a ruffle is worked at the sleeve edge to match the skirt.

The stomacher is worked flat from the bottom up and is shaped with paired increases. It is fastened to the bodice with snaps.

A ruffled lace collar completes the look. View A uses the same tape yarn as the sleeves; View B uses purchased lace trim.
