In an age of insulated mugs, microwaves and drive-through tea in disposable cups, the cosied teapot can’t be beaten in aesthetic, beauty and taste! This is a quick knit for all tea drinkers and friends of tea drinkers. It uses a modern-looking textured “bump” pattern for insulation and ends in an i-cord loop - perfect for hanging up. Although tested for medium weight yarn, you could adapt this pattern to nearly anything you find in your leftovers basket.

Materials needed:

  • 5 mm/US 8 straight needles (or size needed to obtain gauge), preferably going down one size from recommended needle for a denser knit
  • A set of double pointed needles, same size as above
  • A stitch holder, spare knitting needle or waste yarn
  • 6(7) short pieces of waste yarn or split-ring markers
  • 1 removable stitch marker or safety pin
  • Darning needle

The cosies pictured were knit in Drops Garnstudio Nepal yarn (55g).
