Teacup Rabbit
Teacup rabbit
This tiny rabbit, bathing in a teacup, is small enough to sit neatly on your palm.
You can add a loop to turn it into a hanging decoration.
This pattern doesn’t have any particularly tricky techniques but, because it is so small, this is a fiddly little knit.
Both the teacup and rabbit are knitted in the round on double pointed needles, with increases and decreases to create shape. Legs are knitted on as i-cord and the ears are knitted on in the flat. Both the rabbit and teacup are hand felted- instructions are given on how to do this. You do need to use a feltable yarn- 100% wool and not superwash treated (the yarn care instructions should say handwash only). The teacup is sad and floppy until felted.
The teacup rabbit uses only tiny amounts of materials- only about 26m of yarn and scraps of stuffing and embroidery thread. Optional embellishments are bead eyes, a scrap of roving to put tea in your cup, sequins and/or beads to decorate the teacup and ribbon/raffia/twine for a hanging loop.
Rather put a dog or cat in your teacup? I have projects that give modifications to make a border terrier or a cross cat.
Please note that, even when unembellished, this presents a choke risk and is not a suitable toy for babies or small children
