In the Japanese tradition, a teahouse generally refers to a private structure designed for holding Japanese tea ceremonies, or one serving tea. This crescent shaped shawlette is knit from the bottom up starting with a Japanese Teahouse Lace Border, and graduating upwards to a short row body of garter feather and fan lace. It is knit with only one skein of Madelinetosh Pashmina sport weight yarn (360 yards) in the shade of Heuchera. This Merino Wool/silk/cashmere blend gives this pattern excellent drape. After blocking, my shawlette is about 5 feet, and 11 inches deep at its center, deepest point. Full written instructions, row counts for the short row body, and charts are included in the pattern.
