This shawl comprises of wings that are made from the inside out, and are joined as you go.
The joining method in this pattern also gives a raised ridge adding to the design
Technical Detail
You will need to understand how to knit using Magic Loop (this is usually used when making socks and there are many videos available to show this method), and using circular needles.
Each wing is 60sts in length, but the maths can be adjusted for a 90st wing also.
The length of each wing from top to bottom 13.5”, depth of shawl 9” and the inside neck measures 56”
459 yards of yarn will make 13 wings
Understanding of Wrap and Turn knit-wise – to stop a holes appearing in your work
The front side of each wing will show a spine
Materials for a 60st Wing
3.5mm circular needles with a wire at least 80cm PLUS
Another pair of 3 or 3.5mm circular needles on a shorter wire (not sock needles)
Schoppel-Woole Crazy Zauberball (459yds – 420m)
Katia Panama (180m – 197yds)
