Teddy Hoodie
This is the main cover project on Simply Knitting 78, April 2011, Simply Baby supplement.
It is a striped and hooded baby sweater with three buttons at the front neckline. It has an intarsia teddy-bear face on the front. The armholes are not shaped, so the front and back pieces are rectangular apart from the neckline. The hood is made by picking up stitches from the neckline and knitting a simple rectangle which is then folded and seamed at the top. The ribbed button bands and hood edging are knitted in one piece by picking up stitches on a circular needle from the neckline and hood.
Required: 2-3 x 50g balls of recommended yarn in main colour; 2 x 50g of second colour; 2 x 50g for intarsia teddy-bear head on front; 1 x 50g in black for teddy-bear eyes and nose.
Comments from Raveller:
(1) The teddy-bear features could be embroidered instead of using intarsia if preferred; scraps from stash could be used.
(2) The supplement does not state number of 50g balls for the main colour; the above 2-3 balls is a guess.
There is a chart for the intarsia teddy-bear head, and a close-up photo of the finished intarsia section. There are simple diagrams of the front and back pieces and the sleeve piece, with measurements.
