Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Beanie
This is a basic beanie with color changes.
Newborn:
Needle: Size F
With Red Hart Spring Green:
Magic Ring
Row 1: 8 dc in ring, join (8 dc)
Row 2: ch 2, 2 dc in each dc around, join (16 dc)
Row 3: ch 2, 2 dc in first dc, 1 dc in next around, join (24 dc)
Row 4: ch 2, 2 dc in first dc, dc in the next 2 dc around (32 dc)
Row 5: ch 2, 2 dc in first dc, dc in the next 3 dc around (40 dc)
Row 6: ch 2, 2 dc in first dc, dc in the next 4 dc around (48 dc)
CHANGE COLOR TO RED HART ORANGE ( or blue, purple, or red for which ever ninja turtle you wish to create)
Rows 7 thru 11: ch 2, DC around (48 dc)
Change back to SPRING GREEN
Rows 12 thru 14: ch 2, DC around (48 dc)
Row 15: ch 1, sc around (48 sc) Finish off and weave in ends. (Don’t forget to tie off where you changed colors)
Eyes (Make 2 Black and 2 White)
Black:
Magic Ring
8 SC in magic ring. Finish off leaving a long enough tail to attach to white part of the eye.
White:
Magic Ring
10 DC in magic Ring, join
ch 2, 2 dc in each dc around, join(20 dc)
ch 1, sc, hdc, dc, tr, dc, hdc, sc consecutively, sc in next 3 sts, hdc, dc, tr, dc, hdc, sc consecutively, sc in last 3 sts, join. Finish off leaving an extra long tail for attaching to the hat.
Bandana Tail Tie:
With Orange
Ch 40
Row 1:DC in the third chain from the hook and in each dc across
Row 2: Ch 2, DC in the first DC and each dc to the end.
Row 3: repeat row 2, Finish off and weave in ends.
Wrap orange yarn around the middle of the tie several times to give it a knot look. Fasten it off by catching it under a few strands criss cross from each other.
Assembly:
Attach your black eyes to your white eyes by placing the black in one of the corners of the white, giving it a cross eyed look.
Attach your white eyes where they point downward onto the beanie on the orange rows of the beanie.
Attach your bandana tail tie to the back of the hat, on the third row in the very middle.
For Toddler size, adjust your basic beanie by adding 1 DC (9) in your magic ring and following the directions from there. Your stitch count will be slightly higher.
For Child Size, adjust your basic beanie by adding 2 DC (10) in your magic ring and following the directions from there. Your stitch count will be slightly higher.
For Adult size, adjust your basic beanie by adding 4 DC (12) in your magic ring and following the directions from there. Your stitch count will be slightly higher.
