Pictures 4-5: 12 year old boy … I frogged this hat, I felt it was too large, but wanted to show you what it looks like if it is larger than needed.

This pattern has been a project of love.

I made a one for a 4 year old then one for his toddler brother. Both have “big heads” so I was worried that they wouldn’t fit. As you can tell from the picture of the toddler, they fit fine and he LOVED his, as did his brother.

Then my niece decided she wanted them for her sons … both pre-teens. She thought they would be great for Halloween, where they live it can get REAL COLD on Trick-Or-Treat night. I made one, had the 12 year old neighbor boy try it on and it was too long and loose… BUMMER! ! !

So, I frogged it and did it over, adapting the original pattern to one that would fit both the younger and the older kids, and adults.

This time I got the neighbors 13 year old sister, he was at football, practice, to check it out. You can tell from the smile on her face she liked it.

There are two good things with this pattern:

1. The pattern is made according to the circumference/diameter of the head (a chart is given to you as a reference if the “head” isn’t present.
2. The mask has a tie on the back so the hat can be tightened if it happens to be a little large.

There are two options for the mask. Each one is accompanied by photos to help you understand the pattern.

Now, I need to get busy on three more masks so the kids, and their cousins, don’t look alike.

I have suggested four colors for the masks to go with the actual turtle masks. For the body of the h at, I prefer an Olive … it looks more “military” for these fighting turtles.
