These booties are meant to fit preemie babies who may be spending time in a NICU. NICU nurses tell me that they never have booties which are small enough to fit the tiny babies so these should do the trick! The booties will come up further than the ankle, most likely to the mid-calf which should make for a warm and happy baby. Maybe these baby “booties” will be baby’s first pair of couture boots!?

The pattern is written for sizes XXS and XS. All the booties pictured here were knitted in XXS measuring 2.25” long from toe to heel and 1.25” wide.

**** PLEASE NOTE **** The big ribbons are used to add “pop” and fun to the booties. As with all things concerning your precious wee one, always supervise the baby. These booties with the ribbons are intended for babies who are too young to pull at the ribbons and were designed by consulting a NICU registered nurse with over 30 years of professional experience. One can easily omit the eyelets to forego using ribbon completely.
