The Teewinot hat is one of nine patterns in Independent Fabrication: Volume 2, a collection of accessory patterns in small-batch yarn. The print + eBook bundle is currently available for pre-order from Tightly Knit and Sandreed Press; the individual patterns and eBook-only options are available on Ravelry.

“Teewinot” is a Shoshone word meaning “many pinnacles,” and was the original name for the Teton mountain range which inspired the patterns in this book, and for which they were named. It’s also a perfect descriptor of the cables on this hat, which cascade out of two-by-two ribbing upwards and downwards towards and away from a series of peaks. The ribbing-based pattern gives the hat enough stretch to fit a wide range of head sizes, while details like the optional tubular cast-on make for a professional finish. Relish the silk-blend bling of Elemental Affects Civility Worsted in a bold jewel tone or omit the alpaca pom-pom and knit it in a darker color for a more masculine look.
