Temime Cardigan is a classic-fit cardigan featuring a buttery-soft texture, rounded V-neck, set-in sleeves, and multi-colored stripes that let you embrace your creativity while showcasing your mini skeins and scraps!

CONSTRUCTION NOTES
Temime Cardigan is worked flat from the bottom up. The body is worked in one piece to the armholes, then the fronts and back are worked separately with simultaneous armhole and V-neck shaping. The collar/button band is picked up and worked in one piece with one-row buttonholes. The sleeves are worked in the round from the cuff to the underarm, then flat for the sleeve cap. Finish by setting in the sleeves and sewing on buttons, and enjoy!

This pattern includes instructions for a short cardigan (15”/38cm from underarm) or long (18”/46cm), waist shaping or none, and three sleeve stripe patterns.

You’ll need 440–1050 yd/400-960m in mini skeins or scraps for the stripes (CC), and the rest in a neutral main color (MC). Choose an MC that contrasts with your CCs to highlight the striping throughout; this can be accomplished by selecting a darker or lighter MC, an MC that sits opposite your CCs on the color wheel, or a solid MC with variegated CCs.

I recommend wool or a wool blend. If you’re dreaming of a less structured fiber like cashmere or alpaca, choose a blend with a silk or nylon, something to help hold the shape. If using cotton, I recommend knitting in pieces and seaming to create structure. You’ll want little to no halo, to ensure the stitch pattern is clear.

Pictured cardigan fits with 2”/5cm of positive ease in the bust, waist shaping, and cuff-to-forearm sleeve striping. It was worked up in a 12-mini-skein set of ForbiddenFiberCo Fortitude (variegated stripes) and two full skeins of Malabrigo Yarn Sock (black).

Size A: US5 (3.75mm) (or size to obtain gauge)

JANY TEMIME
My inspiration for this sweater came from a set of 12 Harry Potter-themed mini skeins, so I have named this pattern after Jany Temime, the French-Dutch costume designer best known for her work on the last six of the eight Harry Potter films. She also costume designed the films Judy, Gravity, Skyfall, and Black Widow, among others. To date, she has won the Costume Designer’s Guild Award in 2012 and 2013. I hope this garment reflects the balance of timely & timeless, modern & classic, that her work does.
