The Temperance Hat is the 9th pattern in my 12-pattern Fruit of the Spirit Collection. This is a beautiful beanie with a decorative button on the brim and a spiraling cable up the side. Pattern includes both closed and open crown options.

This hat is knit in the round and incorporates knit stitch, purl stitch, a simple left-cross cable, make one increase in knitter’s preferred method that is NOT a yarn over, purl two together decrease, and sewing a decorative button to the brim.

Bonus instructions are included to make a matching pair of fingerless mitts out of the leftover yarn.

Yarn requirements are 230 yards/210 meters of DK weight yarn. Other supplies needed include stitch markers (optional), tapestry needle for weaving in ends, cable needle, a decorative 1-1.5in/2.5-4cm button, and a small kitchen scale (optional for the mitts)

Gauge is 22 stitches to 4in/10cm in stockinette stitch on a US 6/4.0mm.

Finished hat size is 18in/46cm circumference and is intended to be worn with 2-4in/5-10cm of negative ease. The mitts have three circumference sizes: small 6.5in/17cm, medium 7.5in/19cm, and large 8.5in/22cm and are meant to be worn with about 1in/2.5cm of negative ease.
