Temperature Blanket 2020
I have liked from afar temperature blankets for a few years now but was always a bit intimidated by size and the width of some of them and didn’t know if I could keep up throughout the year.
So, I decided to go for a rectangle for each month using linen stitch, with just two rows a day for highest and lowest temperatures. I used www.accuweather.com for my temperatures as you can go back at least a year day by day. There are lots of weather type apps and websites out there, its finding one that does the temperatures for your town or area. Using this I worked out the highest and lowest possible temperatures and did three to four degree increments from -5 to +28, I live in Devon (UK).
I chose Stylecraft Special Double Knit in White, Silver, Parma Violet, Sherbert, Aspen, Cypress, Saffron, Spice and Lipstick with a background colour of Graphite. The finished weight of the blanket comes out at 650 grams.
You can make this in any thickness of yarn, just use a hook to match i.e. 4mm for double knit or 5mm for Aran weight. Abbreviations throughout are US.
The individual rectangles are approximately 5.5 inches wide and 11 inches long.
