Ten Mile River
I loved both sides of the Almond Stitch when
I saw it in Melissa Leapman’s Indispensable
Stitch Collection for Crocheters. I alternated it
with an odd number of back bar half double
crochet ribbing, so that both sides of the
Almond Stitch would show on both faces of
the scarf.
The Ten Mile River loops through my city. It powered several mills before they were electrified. I’ve seen mink, heron, carp and kingfishers in it. The Ten Mile River scarf is a pleasant pattern with slightly quirky stitches. The resulting object is solid, yet drapes. Interesting to crochet, but plain enough to wear everyday. The Arroyo yarns’ colors were a joy to see sliding by, like happy water on a clear day.
