This is a pattern for a 10 sided DnD (or other) die, because when I asked which die was “the thing” for DnD, I was actually told which shape would be the most mathematically interesting.

This pattern assumes that you’ve sewn pieces together before, and while it walks you through the general steps, does not explain how to sew or stuff an item.

If you use the suggested yarn and hooks with very tight tension, you’ll end up with a die a bit bigger than a throw pillow. I recommend keeping your tension as tight as you possibly can, so that when you stuff it there are fewer holes for the stuffing to leak out of, and also so it holds its shape better and doesn’t turn into a lumpy sphere.

Gauge isn’t important, if you use a smaller yarn you’ll get a smaller FO, if you decide to quadruple strand it, you might end up with an FO the size of a chair! Please send pictures if you do.

You will need:

  • around 500g of yarn (see note below)
  • crochet hooks in sizes 3.75mm and 4.00mm (US F and G)
  • 1 large bag of stuffing
  • sewing needle

I used most of one skein of Big Twist Value in Damson Purple as the main color, and probably around 100g or less of Big Twist Value in Cream for the numbers.
