This is a super easy to knit waistcoat because it doesn’t have any stitches to pick up. It a knit and go sort of waistcoat!

There are two options of yarn when knitting this waistcoat.
One is holding two strands of DK yarn together.
The other is to knit it with one strand of chunky yarn.
I loved knitting with the two strands of Mohair Tweed together, it creates such a fun look and the different shades of the Donegal tweed twinkle out here and there. It really is addictive.
The two strands of DK together create a chunky gauge which means if you don’t fancy using two strands together then there is a choice of knitting it in one strand of Soft Donegal Chunky.
As I mentioned there aren’t any stitches to pick up, I designed the edges so they ‘looked’ like they have been picked up but they haven’t!
It is such an exciting knit for me, especially if you do use two strands together as different shades create different looks. I used the shades Nathrach and Oatmeal in these images but I have also knitted the Nathrach with the black of Coast DK and it creates another look entirely!
All the skills you need to knit the Tenorite waistcoat is cast on, knit, purl, k2tog & s1, k1, psso, three needle cast off (optional) and mattress stitch (optional but is the best way to join seams)

I named this pattern Tenorite because to me the little glistens of copper ore in the rock look like the glistens of the tweed in this yarn. Click here for the scientific explanation rather than the creative one!

For this pattern I used:
Yarn & Amounts:

4(5:5:6:6) 50g balls each of Mohair Tweed (70% merino/30% mohair, 110m/120yds per 50g) in shade A and B.
OR
7(7:8:9:10) 50g balls of Soft Donegal Chunky (100% merino, 65m/71yds per 50g).

Needles: 6mm knitting needles.

Notions: Four buttons.

Gauge (tension): 14 stitches and 20 rows to 10cm/4ins square over stocking stitch using 6mm needles and two strands of Mohair Tweed held together OR one strand of Soft Donegal.
