Tentative.
Tentative is intended as a comfort-knit—a familiar top-down triangle with textured stitch motifs. Block pattern repeats pair well with the constraints of the shawl’s construction, and while the finished shawl is generously sized in dk/worsted yarn, it’s easy to add an extra repeat (or leave one out) to make a customized piece.
I used Valley Yarns Cotton for the sample shown! It’s surprisingly nice (it’s meant for weaving primarily), but feel free to substitute with similar yarns. As long as you have enough yarn on hand, changes to gauge and material should be pretty easy to do, and these textures should also look excellent, though different, in a well-defined wool.
Materials:
- 1 cone or about 710 yds of Valley Yarns Cotton 3/2, shown in (7389) Cameo Rose, or a dk/worsted substitute yarn
- 1 48” circular needle in US5-6/3.75-4.0mm, or size needed for gauge.
- Tapestry needle
- Removable stitch markers
Gauge:
Gauge is 16 sts and 32. rows over 4”/10cm of garter stitch, worked flat and blocked.
Errata for the free version is viewable here! The main issue is a stitch count mistake. The stitch count issue does not effect the functionality of the written instructions. The paid version of the pattern is corrected for this issue.
