Teosinte is a native fodder grass of Mexico and Central America. With its tassel and small, hard ears, teosinte is presumed to be the wild ancestor of maize. The Harvest pattern used in this cowl reminds me of mini corn cobs growing on the stalk, which brings to mind the importance of the first gatherers who recognized the value of this wild crop and carefully nurtured it to become the important staple we now call corn.

The Harvest stitch is worked over a multiple of seven stitches. The cowl can be resized by modifying the multiple of stitches used, or by using a different weight of yarn with appropriate hook.

I am a loose crocheter. You may need to use a different size hook to achieve the gauge which is based on:
One pattern set (2 dc, Puff, ch2, Puff) = 2.5 in (6.35 cm)
Three rows of pattern stitch = 3 in (7.6 cm)

Two skeins of Jorstad Creek Mary Todd (a bulky weight yarn) was used for the cowl. Mary Todd has 104 yds/95m per skein.
