Deriving its name from the Finnish word for acorn, Terho Cardigan is a three-color DK-weight colorwork cardigan with oak leaves and hanging acorns on the round yoke. The cardigan is worked seamlessly in the round from the top down, then steeked in the end to form an opening for the front.

Short rows placed at the bottom of the yoke help to create a well-fitting, round neckline. The body of the garment can be knit with or without waist shaping; instructions for both variations are provided. Two rows of acorns decorate the cuffs of the full-length sleeves which are then finished with ribbing. Ribbed button bands embellished with a contrast-colored i-cord edging are worked last.

Terho Cardigan comes in 10 sizes from XS to 6X. The pattern is written with both metric and US terminology. Only charted instructions are given for the colorwork.

• To fit a 71 (82, 92, 102, 112) [122, 132, 142, 153, 163] cm / 28 (32¼, 36¼, 40¼, 44) [48, 52, 56, 60¼, 64¼]″ upper bust
• Finished full bust circumference: approx. 82 (93, 103, 118, 128) [139, 149, 160, 175, 185] cm / 32¼ (36½, 40½, 46½, 50½) [54¾, 58¾, 63, 68¾, 73]″
• The pattern is graded with a 5 (5, 5, 10, 10) [10, 10, 10, 15, 15] cm / 2 (2, 2, 4, 4) [4, 4, 4, 6, 6]″ difference between upper and full bust.

Choose a size based on your upper bust circumference (measured at the underarm level above any breast tissue). This #sizeinclusive cardigan is intended to be worn with approx. 5–7.5 cm / 2–3″ of positive ease at the bust. The size S sample cardigan is modeled with 5 cm / 2″ of positive ease.

• 5 stitch markers: 4 raglan markers and one unique BOR marker

TECHNIQUES USED

The pattern uses the following techniques: provisional and mid-row cast-on, working in the round, stranded colorwork, German short rows, steeking, and i-cord. Ladderback Jacquard is recommended for managing long floats in colorwork.

Terho Cardigan -kirjoneuletakkia koristavat suuret tammenlehdet ja -terhot. Steekattu takki neulotaan saumattomasti yhtenä kappaleena ylhäältä alas joko kahdella tai kolmella värillä DK-vahvuista lankaa. Aivan lopuksi etureunoihin tehdään joustinneulenappilistat ja kontrastivärinen i-cord, minkä jälkeen takin etukappale leikataan auki.

Lyhennetyillä kerroksilla saadaan kaunis pääntien istuvuus ja lisää pituutta kaarrokkeen takaosaan. Vartalon voi halutessaan neuloa joko suorana tai vyötärömuotoiluilla; kumpaankin vaihtoehtoon on oma ohjeistus. Hihoissa on kaksi riviä kirjoneuleterhoja sekä joustinneuleinen resori. Myös helmassa on joustinta sekä joustava päättely.
