Terrance the Bird (Duck)
Terrance is pretty sure he is a duck. His friends try to tell him otherwise, but at the end of the day, he really doesn’t care as long as someone is around to give him the occasional hug.
You can use a variety of yarn sizes and needles for this project to make smaller and larger birds. I recommend going at least two, if not three, needles smaller than the recommended needle for your yarn weight. For example, if you are going to be working with a sport weight yarn, which has a recommended U.S. needle size of 7, use a 5, if not a 4. This will help the stitches be small enough to hold in the stuffing so Terrance won’t sprout any “leaks”.
Terrance is knitted in the round, and has a few small elements that are knitted on DPNs. You must be comfortable with small diameter knitting in the round in order to be able to complete this project. Here are some other stitches you will need to know:
ds - Dip Stitch (photo tutorial provided)
k1fb - knit one front and back
k2tog - knit two together
skpo - slip one stitch knitwise, knit the next stitch, pass slipped stitch back over
sl - slip one stitch knitwise
Kitchener Stitch
