Terror Bird
Make your own Phorusrhacos (aka Terror Bird). These giant flightless birds ruled the South American continent during the Miocene epoch. Their long, muscular legs allowed them to chase down prey, while the vicious hooked beak could tear flesh from bone.
The 57 page pattern includes detailed step-by-step photos and clear written instructions to make an amigurumi-style Terror Bird. PLUS there is a 22 page printer-friendly TEXT ONLY version at the end of the pattern. This pattern has been fully tested by multiple testers. Includes yarn amounts and hook sizes to make a Terror Bird using worsted weight yarn.
Recommended for INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCE SKILL LEVEL. This pattern uses basic crochet stitches and more complex stitches (detailed in the pattern glossary).
A finished Phorusrhacos made using Worsted Weight yarn is approximately 14” long from beak to tail, 15.5” tall from head to foot, and 6” wide across the hips.
To make a Phorusrhacos using Worsted weight yarn you will need:
260 yds Main Color yarn
130 yds Beak/Leg Color yarn
55 yds Accent Color yarn
G (4/4.25mm) crochet hook (or preferred amigurumi hook)
