This crochet pattern contains instructions for making a 12” (30cm) crocheted bear in a cowgirl outfit, and her hobby horse, Pronto. Crochet Rose with Red Heart Plush worsted weight yarn, and her clothes and hobby horse with worsted weight yarn, using a G crochet hook.

Texas Rose is fully jointed with plastic safety joints, the pattern calls for 9mm plastic safety eyes, but use 9mm eyes of your choice unless the bear is for a small child. Instructions are also given for thread-jointing Rose’s arms and legs, in case you don’t want to use the plastic joints. The clothing is removable, with the exception of the boots

The pattern booklet contains 20 pages, with lots of detail. Color photos of the completed bear and hobby horse are provided. .

You’ll have many options with this pattern. You can make the clothing in other colors, leave off the fringe, make the dress without the vest, etc.

Materials and Supplies Needed:

• Red Heart Plush Worsted Weight – Cream (120 yds)
• Red Heart or other worsted weight – Bear: red (50 yds), dark blue (75 yds), white (150 yds) Hobby Horse: Worsted weight yarn – Brown(50 yds) and Black (20 yds)
• Crochet Hook Size G (4 – 4.5mm) for bear, clothing, and hobby horse, size C (2.5 – 2.75mm) crochet hook for skirt fringe and hat strap
• Fiberfill stuffing
• 5 plastic joint sets – three 30mm sets for head and arm joints, one 35mm set for leg joints
• Two 9-mm plastic eyes with lock washers for bear and two for horse
• Black embroidery floss
• Black and white sewing thread
• Needles: 5-inch doll needle, large blunt tapestry needle, 2.5-inch milliner’s, sewing needle
• Hemostat or other tool to aid with stuffing
• Small sharp scissors
• Micron Pigma pen, 0.25mm – black,
• Watercolor pencils such as Prismacolor – pink, brown, blue (or makeup in those colors)
• One 1 – 1.5” star sequin (available in the bead section of your craft store), or embroidered appliqué – white
• 6 - 8mm spacer bead or pony bead for optional hat strap
• ¼“ (6mm) wide black craft ribbon for horse fittings
