Textploration Shawl
This pattern is an exploration of different textures, stitches, and colors! The name comes from these goals that I had in mind when designing it. Choose colors that make you feel happy and excited to crochet. You likely have not worked a pattern in the original way I designed this one! We will be using two strands “chasing” each other. By this, I mean that you will complete row one and then row two without flipping your work! You will be “shifting” your work after odd numbered rows, and only flipping it after even numbered rows! For more details and a visual explanation, you can reference the YouTube video for this pattern. Of course, you can also choose to use only one strand of yarn throughout the pattern and turn after each row. It will still turn out beautifully!
Stitch guide: You will need to know how to chain, sc, hdc, dc, trc, slst, and complete front and back post stitches. That’s it! All the texture in this design is made with these simple stitches. The only funky stuff is the yarn ‘chasing’ and how we attach the yarn at the beginning of each row, which you can see in action in the accompanying video. If you are a beginner and feel that you’re starting to get bored of other patterns, this is the one for you! That said, any crocheter can enjoy the diversity of techniques in this pattern.
